Degree of Science

I guess I'd better up date this with some news and the happenings of my not so out there life.

In my last entry I wrote how I'd applied for University and was waiting on the offers to be sent out. Low and behold I (a mature aged guy, who has been out of school since 2003) received an offer!! Needless to say I was happy with the offer and quite shocked that I got one. Hard to explain how I felt but it did feel good to be accepted into something different. The course..Bachelor of Science - Environmental Science. A science degree?? yeah, I'm shocked to. I mean I wasn't expecting to get in, but with entry with a science degree I'm delighted, better than an Arts degree but harder in reality. And where you may be asking yourself, University of Western Sydney - Hawkesbury campus, and yes that is a fair trip from when I'm situated (about an hrs drive - 100km round trip, and over two hours by train for the same distance), but I'm happy to have the car at my disposal to get there without dealing with Shitty..I mean Cityrail.

Now, I'm studying full-time for three years so this means I have to give up my only means of financial support - My job! So three weeks ago I gave my notice to my boss, who was on holidays at the time, and told 'em I'll be finishing up on the most luckiest day of the year...Friday 13th, Black Friday...the most luckiest day of the year. Yes I know it's said it's an unlucky day, and no I'm not Gothic and worship the dark days and the devil, I just had to explain to everyone that it's my last day and in my eyes it's a lucky day! So with that done I was free to dis the company to receptionists and have fun with it all. And yes I know dissing the company was wrong but people had to know the truth about the company and I thought they'd like to hear it.

So Science...challenging and interesting me thinks, and to help with it all and my subjects I had the pleasure of choosing to study Biology and Chemistry. And seeing I've never studied Chemistry and only done Biology for 40 weeks (not my choosing, I was forced to fill in units and this was the only class available), I was offered some help and refreshing with a couple of Bridging courses offered by the University. Needless to say I took part of it and loved it! The courses were great and refreshing knowledge and the early stages of learning with Chemistry and how it works in everyday life. So a big thanks to the teachers up there! My other two courses that I'll be studying are: Understanding Landscape and Management of Aquatic Environments...quite interesting and in depth in my eyes, but I look forward to it.

Now a side thing that many people would of shared is Valentines Day! And me like many others was apart of it. I decided to take Sammy out for a meal in a totally different location and genre that we are use too, so I took her to The Rocks and to a nice German place that is very popular...Lowenbrau Keller. I'm not sure how she took to the atmosphere of the place and just how busy it was, and the amount of beer that was flowing around the place, but I do seriously hope she liked it. Afterward dinner, we decided to go in search for some ice-cream at Circular Quay, Sam didn't mind but she was wearing a new pair of heals and I think her feet were trying to tell her something as we were walking. But we found ice-cream and she got to rest up. Only issue of the evening was the rain..and boy howdy did it rain!! But it ended well and as all great nights should.

And that pretty much sums up the last few weeks/months of whats been happening in my world.

Ciao
